Dupli-Color Multi-Purpose Self-Etching Primer is a green lacquer primer aerosol designed to etch and prime bare metal in one step. It is intended as a first step in automotive priming projects and for spot repairs. Manufacturer-listed compatible surfaces include bare steel, aluminum, stainless steel, plastics, and fiberglass.

Intended Use and Application

For bare metal and aluminum preparation, spot repairs, and automotive priming. Remove loose paint, dirt, rust, grease, and wax; scuff or sand with 320-grit paper, clean again with grease-and-wax remover, and allow the surface to dry. Hold the can parallel to the surface at 8–10 inches and apply 2–3 thin coats, allowing 2 minutes between coats. The manufacturer recommends application at 60–95 °F (16–35 °C) when humidity is low. Allow 30 minutes after the final coat before sanding with 400-grit paper or applying a topcoat; the coating can be handled in 1 hour. After use, invert the can and spray until clear gas comes out.
